Moloya Goswami is an Assamese actress who also works in theatre and television, and who taught education as a professor before retiring from Jagiroad College. Born in Dibrugarh, she studied in Nagaon and Guwahati, took a master's degree in education from Gauhati University, and was a member of Assam's first women's hockey team during her college years.
She came to the stage through the theatre movement that began in Assam in the 1970s, acting in roughly 30 stage plays and about 40 radio plays, and she joined All India Radio's youth programme in 1977. Her film debut was Agnisnaan, directed by Bhabendranath Saikia and adapted from his novel Antarip, in which she played the central role of Menaka.
She won the National Film Award for Best Actress for Firingoti (1992), which made her the first actress from the north-east to earn that national recognition.
