About

The Assamese cinema archive

Assamese cinema began with Joymoti in 1935. Ninety years on, there is still no single place that records what was made, who made it, and where it can be seen. Fita is that place: a free reference for every Assamese film, the people in it, its songs, its awards and its history.

Where the data comes from

The first version of each page is assembled from open data (Wikidata, which is in the public domain) and the films' own credits. Editors then add depth from newspaper archives, CBFC certificates, festival catalogues, posters, songbooks and interviews with the people involved.

How we verify

A page marked Verified has had its core facts (title, year, director, cast, release date) checked by an editor against at least one primary source. Sources are listed at the bottom of each page. Where sources disagree, we say so.

Where to watch

We only link to official uploads and licensed services, and we re-check links regularly. We never link to pirated copies. Fita does not host or sell films.

Corrections

Every page has a “Suggest an edit” button. Filmmakers can claim their film's page to supply official details.

Who runs it

Fita is made in Jorhat by Dubori. Contact details are on the contact page.
