Xagoroloi Bohudoor

A boatman earns his living by ferrying passengers across the river at the nearby ghats. His livelihood comes under threat when the government decides to build a bridge there. His son, who lives in the city, only wants his father to look after the family property.

Barua wrote and directed, with Sailadhar Baruah and Barua producing. The film runs 106 minutes and is the first film of Barua's trilogy of child-centred stories that continues with Pokhi (1998) and Konikar Ramdhenu (2002).

It won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Assamese and the award for Best Direction for Barua in 1995, the Getz Prize at the 31st Chicago International Film Festival and the Prix du Public for Best Film at the Nantes Film Festival in France. Reviewing it at the Indian Panorama, S. R. Ashok Kumar of The Hindu praised its performances, music and cinematography.
