Upapath is a 1980 black-and-white Assamese film directed by Hemanta Dutta, based on a stage play by Praphulla Bora. A novelist rents a room in a slum to research his next book. The film marked Mridula Baruah's first acting assignment.

Story কাহিনী

Indraneel, a writer, comes to Guwahati to work on his newest novel, Upapath. The book is to be set in slum life, so to gain first-hand experience he rents a room in a slum area and lives there. In that setting he meets a range of unusual characters.

The film was made in black and white by United Film Productions of Bishwanath Chariali, with Pramod Baruah as chief producer. Hemanta Dutta directed. The screenplay was adapted from the stage play Upapath by dramatist Praphulla Bora. Biju Phukan, Pranjal Saikia and Mridula Baruah play the main roles.

Manisha Hazarika directed the music, based on tunes by Jayanta Hazarika. The lyrics were written by Nirmalprabha Bordoloi and Hemanta Dutta.
