Surjasta

Namita Chaliha is a popular writer, and her husband Anup is a civil servant looking for promotion. Their eight-year-old daughter Niyarkona is raised by a housemaid while both parents chase advancement. Namita cultivates literary figures and a newspaper's literary editor to win a major prize, and Anup falls for the head of a voluntary organisation close to a minister, because he needs the promotion. Neither has time for their child. The film looks at the mental world of a girl deprived of her parents' affection by their pursuit of name and influence.

Deka announced the film in Guwahati on 31 December 2011, with shooting beginning in April 2012. It was his third film after Dhunia Tirutabur (2009) and Samiran Barua Ahi Ase (2012). The story is by the journalist Jitumani Bora and the screenplay by Chandan Sarma. It was shot on a Canon 5D in Guwahati and Sonapur, with editing and dubbing at Jyoti Chitraban. Rosy Bora produced, and the film runs 90 minutes. Angoorlata Deka, Mridul Chutia and the child actor Rodali lead the cast.

It opened on 17 May 2013 with a U certificate. Mridul Chutia and Angoorlata Deka were nominated at the Filmfare Awards East 2013 for Best Actor and Best Actress.
