Samiran Barua Ahi Ase

The film is built from four chapters around Samiran Barua, the leader of an extremist group. In the first, Prize, Samiran has just crossed the border into the state while the police, led by Superintendent Barman, hunt him as a prize catch. He roams the city feeling lost.

In the second, Nila O Nila, the story flashes back to his college days and the love he left behind. His former beloved Nila is now married to a wealthy man and is happy, but she still dreads that he might one day return.

In the third, Encounter, a newspaper editor knows that only Samiran's name sells papers and plots to print facts about him, true or invented, even a fake encounter.

In the last, Dispur, everyone wants something from him: a desperate political party hopes he will give it a facelift, frustrated unemployed youths want automatic rifles, and an arrested militant leader pins his final hopes on him. Samiran has yet to decide.

Prodyut Kumar Deka directed and produced with Mrinal Das under Arc Lights. The story comes from the journalist Manoj Kumar Goswami and the music was composed by another journalist, Atanu Bhuyan. The cast includes Brojen Bora, Sanjiv Hazarika, Mrinal Das, Madhusmita Borkotoky, Baharul Islam and Tapan Das.

The film was released on 30 March 2012 and was an official entry at the 18th Kolkata International Film Festival that year.

It is regarded as the first attempt at an anthology film in Assamese cinema.
