Story কাহিনী
A farmer has two wives, Lagi and Elagi. Elagi has a son, Kanai, and a daughter, Teja, while Lagi has one daughter, Tula. Lagi enjoys her husband's love and care while Elagi is denied all of it, yet Lagi still envies her. One day Lagi uses magic to turn Elagi into a turtle. Teja and Kanai search the village for their mother and find her in a pond, and afterwards they meet her quietly at its bank every day. When Lagi finds out, she plans to catch the turtle and feed the villagers with its meat.
By chance Elagi is transformed into a hibiscus plant and a jara tenga tree, which the children tend and raise. A king passing by asks for some flowers and fruit. Kanai agrees on the condition that the king marries Teja, and the king accepts, so Teja becomes queen.
When Teja later visits her mother's home, her stepmother Lagi turns her into a myna bird and sends her own daughter Tula to the palace as a false queen. The king eventually learns everything. He touches the myna and restores Teja, sentences Tula to death, and sends her flesh to her mother Lagi.
