Pramod Barua wrote both the story and the screenplay, and Dara Ahmed directed. The cinematographer was Bijay Anand Chabrewal of Mumbai. The cast includes Nipon Goswami, Vidya Rao, Brajen Bora and Pranjal Saikia.
Among the crew, Jayanta Nath, Dwijen Mahanta and Pranjalpratim Neog were assistant directors, Anil Talukdar, Jatin Sarma and Naju handled sound, and Bangshi Das did make-up. The film was released on 11 December 1987.

The film drew a large response from the public. For a time it ran to packed audiences in several cinema halls in Guwahati.

In Dara Ahmed's filmography, Pratidan was followed by Rickshawala (1993).
