Story কাহিনী
The villagers think of Katiram as a simpleton. His wife Madhan earns the family's keep by selling vegetables at the market, while Katiram cooks, washes and looks after the children. He has one gift, a sweet voice, and when he sings ghosha and pad in the namghar, people listen spellbound.
The village namghar keeper has grown old and can no longer manage the work, so the villagers decide to give the post to Katiram. He is unwilling to leave home, but at the urging of a young devotee, Dhanai, he finally takes it. Turning his back on family responsibilities, he settles at the namghar and only occasionally brings home a handful of prasad to check on the children. One night a thief is caught trying to steal from the namghar. Katiram's counsel reforms him, and since the man has no one in the world, Katiram keeps him at the namghar to help.
In his absence Madhan struggles alone with marketing, cooking and the children. A paternal aunt of the family joins with Madhan to devise a plan to bring Katiram back. Katiram comes to see his mistake, hands the namghar duties to the reformed thief, and returns home.
