Story কাহিনী
Akashitora is an educated girl who specialised in folklore and started researching the woman-centred cultural traditions of Assam with the help of her Tawoi, her father's best friend. After she marries, she is reduced to a conventional housewife. Her husband abuses her physically and mentally and she is left devastated, losing her self-respect as she realises that her married life is pulling her away from herself.

Manju Borah directed, and Sangeeta Tamuly produced for Chitra Communications. Bishnu Kharghoria, Pranjal Saikia and Rituparna Phukan star. The music is by Tarali Sarma.
Reception সমালোচনা
The film won two National Film Awards at the 51st ceremony and was released on 14 November 2003. Reviewing it, Rong Sarmah wrote in The Telegraph that Tarali Sarma's music has significance from the ritualistic and traditional viewpoint, although the subtlety of mixing was missing. Pranjal Borah noted how traditions reveal that young girls were once forced to become devadasis.
Legacy
In Manju Borah's filmography, Akashitorar Kothare came after Anya Ek Jatra (2001) and was followed by Laaz (2004) and Laaj (2004).
