Biography জীৱনী
Nip Barua (1925-1992) was a producer and director of Assamese cinema, remembered for bringing a commercial footing to Assam's films. He directed a total of 15 Assamese films, starting with Smritir Parash (1956). He also took an interest in acting, music and football, and drew cartoons for The Assam Tribune.
He came from a family in Bihdia village, Kamrup district, with nine sons and four daughters, and the siblings were all involved to some degree in Assamese cinema. His films in our database include Maak Aru Moram (1957), Bhakta Prahlad (1958), Ronga Police (1958), Amar Ghar (1959), Narakasur (1962), Baruar Sansar (1970), Soontora (1973), Soonma (1977), Ajali Nabou (1980), Kokadeuta Nati aru Hati (1983), Shakuntala Aru Sankar Joseph Ali (1984) and Antony Mor Naam (1986), the last of which he also wrote.
