TRP Aru is an Assamese film released on 28 November 2014, directed by Mridul Gupta. It looks at the race for television ratings among news channels in North-East India through the eyes of three young journalists.

Story কাহিনী

As television grows quickly in the North-East, news channels compete harder and harder, each hunting for breaking news to lift its television rating points. To manufacture such stories they are willing to add exaggeration to what they broadcast.

The film views this world through three friends who are young journalists at two leading channels. Along the way it brings in a young woman caught by a trafficking network, the dark life of a brothel, and the ratings war between the two channels. In the end, the truth prevails over every obstacle.

Production নিৰ্মাণ

The film was made under the banners of the Assam State Film (Finance and Development) Corporation and J R Enterprise. Mridul Gupta directed, and Ranumai Terenpi was the executive producer. The story is by Pankajjyoti Bhuyan and the screenplay and dialogue by Manimala Das. Music and lyrics are by Palash Gogoi, cinematography by Raktim, and editing by Amitabh and Dhanjit Das.

The cast includes Urmila Mahanta, Gunjan Bhardwaj, Pheripriya Ahmed, Prince Chauhan and Debojit Mazumdar.
