Adomya

Juri, a village girl played by Pranami Bora, marries an engineer. Six months later he dies of HIV/AIDS. She is pregnant at the time, and a medical test shows she carries the infection too. Her husband's family throws her out, and when her parents' home treats her the same way, she settles in a small hut by the roadside, where she gives birth to a daughter.

The child escapes infection, yet neither mother nor daughter escapes the cruelty of those around them. Cast out by society, Juri takes her daughter Jonak and moves to Guwahati some months later, determined to carry on her struggle.

The film was produced by Basanta Kumar Baruah and Bobby Sarma Baruah under the BB Entertainment Private Limited banner. Bobby Sarma Baruah also wrote the story and dialogue and directed it, with Sagar Sangam Sarkar sharing screenplay credit.

Pankaj Sharma composed the music and Bobby Sarma Baruah wrote the lyrics. Pragyan Baruah, Nandita Sharma and Sulakshana Baruah sang the songs. The technical team included Satya Prakash Rath (cinematography), Ratul Deka (editing), Debajit Gayan (sound design) and Digant Bhuyan (art direction). Sulakshana Baruah plays Jonak, and the cast also includes Jyoti Narayan Nath, Saurabh Hazarika, Jolly Bhattacharya, Atul Pachani, Jayanta Das, Pranjal Saikia, Purnima Pathak Saikia and Runu Devi.

It was released on 12 December 2014.

Adomya won Best Film in the Spiritual film category at the 13th Dhaka International Film Festival in 2014. In the same year it was also screened at the 15th Rainbow Film Festival in London, the first International Women's Film Festival in Bangladesh, the Cana Film Festival in Singapore, the 12th Third Eye Asian Film Festival, the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, and women's film festivals in Mumbai, as well as the Chennai and Bengaluru international film festivals. It was also shown at the third Delhi International Film Festival.
