Bibhrat

বিভ্ৰাট

Bibhrat is a 1972 Assamese comedy directed by Phani Talukdar. It was the first Assamese film all of whose songs were recorded at Jyoti Chitraban, the government studio established in 1968. The producers were Pitambar Sharma, Bangshidhar Sharma and Phani Talukdar.

Story কাহিনী

Jadu comes from his village to the city hoping for any ordinary job, such as peon or watchman. There he meets Madhu, who has become a little sharp from some time in town. Both are jobless and sleep on the veranda of a namghar at night while looking for work by day. Jadu takes a cook's job in a house Madhu once worked at but cannot last long, while Madhu tries house-brokering and portering without settling anywhere. They meet again.

One day, buying an old newspaper from a swindler in the court compound, Jadu reads a missing person notice and decides there is money in finding runaway youngsters. Madhu joins in, and chasing various boys and girls they land in many scrapes. Jadu meets Lahari and begins to dream of a home. Later, while searching for a runaway, he falls into the hands of a crooked gang, and Madhu rescues him.
