Story কাহিনী

Piyoli Phukan was the son of Badan Borphukan, who is regarded in Assamese history as a traitor for bringing the Burmese army into Assam. After the Burmese came the British, nominally to rescue the Assamese, but after the Treaty of Yandabo in 1826 they occupied the land. There was massive protest against the occupation.

The film shows how Piyoli, together with Gomdhar Konwar, rose against the colonisers and organised people for an armed attack. The British learned of the conspiracy just before it could be carried out and arrested him. After a trial Piyoli was sentenced to death and hanged on 26 July 1830 at Jorhat.
