Story কাহিনী
Dinobandhu, played by Tapan Das, is a lower middle class clerk who refuses gifts at work, so his income is small, yet he wants to spend what he has on his family's happiness. His friend is played by Arun Nath. Pressed by circumstance, he spends beyond his means on his own wedding. His wife, played by Prastuti Parashar, later falls ill and dies for want of money and proper treatment. To make ends meet he has to take private tuitions.
As his daughters grow up, he gives in to his in-laws' demands and marries off his elder daughter (Gayatri Mahanta) with great show. For the younger daughter (Nishita Goswami) he then has no money at all. He writes down the story of his life, of how his own marriage and his elder daughter's shattered his finances. Weighed down by guilt at being unable to give her a proper wedding, he indirectly advises the younger daughter to elope with her lover Bipul (Zubeen Garg). She understands and leaves home accordingly.
