Munin Barua (5 November 1946 - 7 April 2018), affectionately known as Bhaimon Da, was one of the most popular directors of Assamese cinema. He was born at Khumtai in Golaghat district, the youngest child of a mouzadar's family, and married the actress and costume designer Manjula Barua in 1974. Their son Manas Barua is also a director.
He entered films in the mid-1970s as a scriptwriter and assistant director, assisting Shiva Prasad Thakur on Bowari, Ghar-Sansar and Sonmoina. He wrote scripts for about 21 films, and more than 90 plays for Assam's mobile theatres. His directing debut was Pratima (1987), made jointly with Nipon Goswami, followed by his first solo film Pita Putra (1988) and Prabhati Pokhir Gaan (1992).
His film Hiya Diya Niya (2000) became the first real blockbuster of Assamese cinema and is credited with reviving a struggling industry. Daag, Nayak, Kanyadaan, Bidhata, Barud, Rang and Raamdhenu followed, and Dinabandhoo (2004) won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Assamese. His last film as director was Priyaar Priyo (2017). He also directed television work including Papu Nikur Xongbad and the telefilm Rudra.
He received the Roopkar Award for 2013 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Prag Cine Awards in 2017. A biopic, Bhaimon Da, based on his life, was released in theatres on 23 May 2025.

হিয়া দিয়া নিয়া (২০০০)ৰ সফলতাই অসমীয়া চলচ্চিত্ৰ জগতখনক নতুনকৈ জীপ দিয়ে আৰু ই সৰ্বকালৰ অন্যতম জনপ্ৰিয় অসমীয়া ছবি হিচাপে পৰিচিত। ইয়াৰ পিছত দাগ, নায়ক, কন্যাদান, বিধাতা, বাৰুদ, ৰং আৰু ৰামধেনু আদি ছবিয়ে জনপ্ৰিয়তা লাভ কৰে। দীনবন্ধু (২০০৪) ২০০৫ চনৰ ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় চলচ্চিত্ৰ বঁটাত শ্ৰেষ্ঠ অসমীয়া ছবিৰ সন্মান লাভ কৰে। তেওঁৰ অন্তিম ছবি প্ৰিয়াৰ প্ৰিয় (২০১৭)। পাপু নিকু সংবাদ ধাৰাবাহিক আৰু ৰুদ্ৰ টেলিফিল্মো তেওঁ পৰিচালনা কৰিছিল।
২০১৩ বৰ্ষৰ ৰূপকাৰ বঁটা আৰু ২০১৭ চনত প্ৰাগ চিনে এৱাৰ্ডছৰ জীৱনজোৰা সাধনা বঁটা তেওঁ লাভ কৰে। ২০১৮ চনৰ ৭ এপ্ৰিলত গুৱাহাটীত তেওঁৰ মৃত্যু হয়। ২০২৫ চনৰ ২৩ মে'ত তেওঁৰ জীৱনৰ আধাৰত নিৰ্মিত ভাইমন দা চিত্ৰগৃহত মুক্তি পায়।
