Paap aru Praischitta

A judge who has never sentenced anyone to hang in his career lives a contented life with his wife and three daughters. One day he learns that he is incapable of fathering children, and wonders how three daughters were born to him. Step by step his wife's infidelity is revealed to him.

The mild and simple man turns vengeful and takes a terrible decision. In secret he kills his wife and all three of his daughters. But sin does not stay hidden. He is caught by the police, put on trial, and finally sentenced to death by hanging.

The film is based on a 1970 murder in Dhubri. Upendranath Rajkhowa, a recently retired district and sessions judge of undivided Goalpara district, killed his wife and three young daughters and buried them in a pit. He was later arrested by the police, tried in court and sentenced to death.

Anowar Hussain directed. Pabitra Barkatoki, Tasaduq Yusuf and Nibedita Sharma were among the cast. Jiten Baruah composed the music, with vocals by Bhaskar Das, Kul Baruah and Mridula Dewan Das.
