Juiphool

The story follows two women, Lakshmi and Rengma, who live in the unsettled border country between Assam and Nagaland. Lakshmi, who is pregnant, belongs to an Assamese village, while Rengma comes from a village on the Nagaland side.

Folk tales circulating in the two communities breed distrust between the villages, even as the two women try to hold on to a connection with each other.

The film was co-produced and directed by Jadumoni Dutta. It had its first public screening at the 55th International Film Festival of India.

Juiphool won the National Film Award for Best Assamese Feature Film.
