Jetuka Pator Dore

In an interior Assamese village of the 1970s, poor farmers and fishermen are exploited by a wealthy contractor, Jamuna Hazarika. Radha, an orphan raised in the home of her maternal uncle Nakul, grows up alongside Rajat, another orphan who works as household help. Rajat is later given a small thatched house behind the orchard of the school teacher Hemdhar, but the closeness between the two does not change.

Radha passes her matriculation, joins the local college and, with her talent and intelligence, becomes popular with students and teachers. The story follows her as a young woman of a lower caste who fights corruption and stands up for the rights of her community.

Directed by Jadumoni Dutta from the novel of the same name by Syed Abdul Malik, with Munin Barua credited as writer. Noorul Sultan produced for the Maina Industrial Co-Operative Society. Aimee Baruah plays Radha and Raag Oinitom plays Rajat, with Bishnu Kharghoria, Arun Hazarika and Kopil Bora in the cast. The title has been rendered as Enchanting, Challenging... The Life.

Jetuka Pator Dore won Best Feature Film in Assamese at the 58th National Film Awards for 2010.
