Era Bator Sur

The film centres on characters from the tea labourers' community of Assam and the exploitation they suffer at the hands of the society's more powerful class.

Hazarika directed and composed the music, and BP Films produced. Priyambada Patel choreographed. Hazarika was then an active member of the Indian People's Theatre Association, whose workers in the 1950s were moved by the sorrows, struggles and hopes of ordinary people and drew on folk music and culture; the film grew out of that effort. The cast includes Balraj Sahni, Phani Sarma, Bishnu Prasad Rabha and Anil Das.

It was released on 30 November 1956.

Its story and music reflect the stirrings of the people of its time and it remains a key early example of socially committed Assamese cinema.
