Zerifa Wahid

Zerifa Wahid is an actress and theatre worker from Guwahati who began as a child actor in the Assamese film Abhimaan in 1990 and later became a leading heroine in Assamese films, television, video films and music albums. She is a law graduate and has also entered politics.

Her films in our database include Antaheen Jatra (2004), Bukuwe Bisare (2004), Ahir Bhairav (2007), Baandhon (2012), Dwaar (2013), Raag (2014), Kothanodi (2015) and Bhoga Khirikee (2018). Baandhon, directed by Jahnu Baruah, won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Assamese and opened the Indian Panorama section at IFFI Goa in 2012. Kothanodi premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2015 after winning a post-production grant.

She runs Zerifa Wahid Productions, which has staged Assamese plays and adaptations such as Agnibrishti, Pancharatna, Napoleon and Moromor Bondhu, and she serves as ambassador for the Assam Autism Foundation.
