Bidyut Chakrabarty (1 January 1960 to 15 April 2015) was an Assamese actor and a director of films and stage plays. Born in Guwahati, he completed a commerce degree but had already begun acting in plays, working with several amateur theatre groups in the city. He later assisted Bhabendranath Saikia and Pulok Gogoi on their films, and in 1985 he directed his first work, the telefilm Kukurnesiya Manuh, based on Arun Sarma's play.
His debut feature as director was Rag-Birag (1996), which won the National Award for a director's first film, along with national awards for its cinematographer Mrinal Kanti Das and editor Shrikar Prasad. It was shown in Cairo and became the first Assamese film chosen as the opening film of the Indian Panorama. His later films as director were Nishiddha Nadi (1998), Gun Gun Gane Gane (2002), Anurag and Duar (2013); Duar won Best Assamese Film at the first Filmfare Awards East in 2013.
As an actor he appeared on stage and in films, including Mimanxa (1998) and Raamdhenu (2011) from our database. He also served on a National Film Awards jury.

অভিনেতা হিচাপে তেওঁ মঞ্চ আৰু চলচ্চিত্ৰত নিয়মীয়াকৈ অভিনয় কৰিছিল; আমাৰ তথ্যভাণ্ডাৰত 'মীমাংসা' (১৯৯৮) আৰু 'ৰামধেনু' (২০১১)ত তেওঁৰ নাম আছে। তেওঁ ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় চলচ্চিত্ৰ বঁটাৰ বিচাৰক মণ্ডলীৰ সদস্য হিচাপেও কাম কৰিছিল।
