Putala Ghar is a 1976 black and white Assamese film directed by Samarendra Narayan Dev and produced by Mangaldoi United Productions. It won the Rajat Kamal for the best Assamese film at the national awards.

Production নিৰ্মাণ

Samarendra Narayan Dev wrote the story and screenplay and directed the film, which was produced by Mangaldoi United Productions. Pintu Dasgupta handled the camera, Govinda Chetarji the editing, Piyush Kanti Roy the sound recording, and Satyen Chetarji the music recording and re-recording. Bhaben Deka and Hemanta Dutta were art directors, Nabin Bora choreographed the dances, and Bangshi Das did make-up.

The cast included Tasaduq Yusuf as the mouzadar, Mukul as Kamal, Kashmiri Saikia as Beula and Nibedita as Rina, along with Awani Dutta, Biplab Roy, Abdulla Mahmud, Ashutosh Choudhury, Habibar Rahman, Anup Das, Binita Saharia and Rina Saikia.

Tafazzul Ali composed the music and wrote the songs. One song by Jyotiprasad Agarwala is also included. The singers were Anima Choudhury, Nirmala Mishra and Dwipen Barua.

Reception সমালোচনা

At the 24th National Film Festival, covering 1976, the film received the Rajat Kamal in the category of best film in Assamese.

Legacy

In Samarendra Narayan Dev's filmography, Putala Ghar came after Aranya (1971) and was followed by Sunor Horin (1979) and Bir Chilarai (2013).
