Parghat is an Assamese film released on 5 August 1949, the seventh Assamese film produced by Pramathesh Das's Pragjyotish Kalachitra company. Prabin Phukan directed it and wrote the story, which centres on the opium trade.

Parghat was produced by Pragjyotish Kalachitra, the company of Pramathram Das, as its seventh Assamese film. Prabin Phukan both directed and wrote it. Filming took place at the Indrapuri Studio in Calcutta. Purushottam Das, under the name Gandharva, composed the music.

The cast includes Chandrakanta Phukan, Prabin Phukan, Sarbeswar Chakravarty (as the mouzadar), Jogendranath Bordoloi (as the shopkeeper), Bhubaneswar Bujarbaruah, Jogendranath Barkakati (as Krishna Mondal), Gyanada Kakati and Malaya Das.

Legacy

The film is noted as the first Assamese film to offer advance ticket booking. It was also the screen debut of the actress Gyanada Kakati.
