Gyanada Kakati was an actress and singer of the Assamese film industry. Born in 1932 in Shillong, she grew up in a household with a stage-actor father, and was praised by Bishnu Prasad Rabha for a dance she performed as a teenager. She began acting on screen after her marriage, and her work in Parghat brought her wide notice.
Her Assamese films include Piyali Phukan, Sarapat, Lakhimi, Ronga Police, Puberun, Saknoiya, Pratham Ragini, Puwati Nisar Sopun, Narakasur (1962), Upar Mahala, Khekh Bisar, Priyajan and Rag-Birag (1996). Puberun (1959) was her best-known film, and it was shown at the Berlin Film Festival in 1960, where she met Hollywood stars such as Sophia Loren and Cary Grant. She also acted in Bengali films, and reportedly turned down a lead role in the Hindi film Bandini to stay committed to Assamese cinema.
Kakati was a regular singer at the Shillong and Guwahati stations of All India Radio and recorded songs on gramophone. She received the Bishnu Rabha Award from the Government of Assam in 2002, and died in Shillong on 8 January 2025, aged 92.

তেওঁৰ অভিনীত অসমীয়া ছবিৰ ভিতৰত পিয়লি ফুকন, সৰাপাত, লখিমী, ৰঙা পুলিচ, পূবেৰুণ, চাকনৈয়া, প্ৰথম ৰাগিনী, পুৱতি নিশাৰ সপোন, নৰকাসুৰ (১৯৬২), ওপৰ মহলা, শেষ বিচাৰ, প্ৰিয়জন আৰু ৰাগ-বিৰাগ (১৯৯৬) অন্যতম। ১৯৫৯ চনৰ পূবেৰুণ তেওঁৰ সবাতোকৈ জনপ্ৰিয় ছবি; ১৯৬০ চনৰ বাৰ্লিন চলচ্চিত্ৰ মহোৎসৱত ছবিখন প্ৰদৰ্শিত হৈছিল আৰু তাত কাকতিয়ে ছ'ফিয়া লৰেন, কেৰী গ্ৰাণ্টৰ দৰে হলীউডৰ শিল্পীক লগ পাইছিল। তেওঁ নীলাচলেৰ মহাপ্ৰভু, গড়েৰ মাঠে, বৰমা আদি বঙালী ছবিতো অভিনয় কৰিছিল। অসমীয়া চলচ্চিত্ৰৰ প্ৰতি নিষ্ঠাবান হৈ থকাৰ বাবে তেওঁ বন্দীনী ছবিৰ নায়িকাৰ প্ৰস্তাৱ প্ৰত্যাখ্যান কৰিছিল বুলি কোৱা হয়।
কাকতি আকাশবাণী শ্বিলং আৰু গুৱাহাটী কেন্দ্ৰৰ নিয়মীয়া কণ্ঠশিল্পী আছিল আৰু গ্ৰামোফোন ৰেকৰ্ডতো গীত বাণীবদ্ধ কৰিছিল। ২০০২ চনত তেওঁ অসম চৰকাৰৰ বিষ্ণু ৰাভা বঁটা লাভ কৰে। ২০২৫ চনৰ ৮ জানুৱাৰীত ৯২ বছৰ বয়সত শ্বিলঙত তেওঁৰ মৃত্যু হয়।
