Story কাহিনী

Manab, Nayan, Tapan and Akan are friends from lower-middle-class families in Tinsukia, all educated and all out of work. After Nayan's father dies he leaves to work with an uncle. The other three are briefly detained by police as terror suspects, and though they are bailed out three days later, the stigma blocks them from clean work.

They drift into crime and kidnap a businessman for quick money, but being amateurs, they end up killing him. Insurgent groups deny any role, and nobody suspects the three. Guilt, however, does not fade. Manab's father finds his son's share of the ransom and, appalled, disowns him and bars him even from lighting his funeral pyre.

Nayan returns, now a success and eventually a civil service officer serving in Tinsukia. Manab leaves home for a monastery and devotes himself to serving others, Tapan dies in a police encounter after drifting into a criminal racket, and Akan marries his girlfriend Sewali and has two children.
