Story কাহিনী

The film is set in a remote village in Goalpara district and follows its young title character, played by ten-year-old Kapil Garo, in a story inspired by a novel by the Assamese writer Manikuntala Bhattacharya.

Production নিৰ্মাণ

Borpujari, a film critic and former journalist, wrote and directed his first feature for the Children's Film Society, India. He chose Kapil Garo from some 300 children for the lead. The cast includes Bishnu Kharghoria, Leishangthem Tonthoingambi Devi and Chetana Das, with editing by A. Sreekar Prasad and music by Anurag Saikia. It was shot in and around Rampur in Kamrup district.

Reception সমালোচনা

Ishu won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Assamese at the 65th National Film Awards in 2018 and the Best Film title at the third Sailadhar Baruah Film Awards. It was shown at the first Eikhoigi Imphal International Film Festival in April 2022.
