Mahendra Borthakur was an Assamese teacher, playwright and radio and television producer. He began as an assistant headmaster in 1957, joined All India Radio Guwahati in 1967 and rose to assistant station director before retiring in 1993. He became widely popular through the satirical radio programme Nokowai Bhal, and later served as president of the Asom Natya Sanmelan (2001-2003).
He wrote for the stage from his school days and became a playwright for Assam's mobile theatre in 1981 with Simalu Chandan. His honours include the 1989 award for best mobile theatre play for Mukhyamantri and the Axom Xilpi Divas award in 2001.
In cinema he wrote the screenplay and dialogue for several Assamese films, notably Azoli Nabou and Kakadeuta Nati Aru Hati. Our database also credits him as writer of Antony Mor Naam (1986). He died in 2005.

স্কুলীয়া দিনৰ পৰাই তেওঁ নাটক লিখিছিল আৰু ১৯৮১ চনত শিমলু চন্দন নাটকৰ জৰিয়তে ভ্ৰাম্যমাণ মঞ্চৰ নাট্যকাৰ হিচাপে আত্মপ্ৰকাশ কৰে। ১৯৮৯ চনত মুখ্যমন্ত্ৰী নাটকৰ বাবে তেওঁ শ্ৰেষ্ঠ ভ্ৰাম্যমাণ নাটকৰ বঁটা পায় আৰু ২০০১ চনত অসম শিল্পী দিৱস বঁটাৰে সন্মানিত হয়।
চলচ্চিত্ৰৰ ক্ষেত্ৰত তেওঁ আজলী নবৌ আৰু ককাদেউতা নাতি আৰু হাতীকে ধৰি কেইবাখনো অসমীয়া ছবিৰ চিত্ৰনাট্য আৰু সংলাপ লিখিছিল। আমাৰ তথ্যভাণ্ডাৰত এণ্টনী মোৰ নাম (১৯৮৬) ছবিৰ লেখক হিচাপেও তেওঁৰ নাম আছে। ২০০৫ চনত তেওঁৰ মৃত্যু হয়।
