The film was made in two languages, Bengali and Assamese, and both versions came out in 1954. Chhabi Biswas took the lead in the Bengali version. The Assamese release was essentially an adaptation of the Bengali one, so its setting remained Bengal. Pravin Phukan wrote the Assamese dialogue, and Phani Sarma played the merchant Chand Sadagar.
