Story কাহিনী

Manomoti and Lakshmikanta meet while watching the Doul festival and fall in love. Santiram Atoi, of the Barpeta Satra, carries Manomoti's feelings to Lakshmikanta. Chandi Baruah, a nobleman of Baranagar, is Manomoti's foster father, while Lakshmikanta's father Halakanta Baruah, of Jugi's farm, is also a nobleman. The two houses have long been rivals.

When a Burmese (Man) army comes down the river to Guwahati, Halakanta sees a chance to settle old scores and brings Man troops to attack Chandi Baruah's Baranagar. The brave and generous Lakshmikanta joins Chandi Baruah to resist them.

One dark night the Mans storm Chandi Baruah's mansion and take him, Manomoti, her friend Pamila, Lakshmikanta and Santiram prisoner. They also seize Halakanta, who had guided them. Chandi Baruah is killed. In the end Padumi, the Assamese wife of the Man commander Mingimaha Tilowa, helps Manomoti, Pamila, Lakshmikanta, Halakanta and Santiram escape from captivity.
