Renu Saikia (1934-2011) was an Assamese stage and screen actress who became known as a character actress after three well-regarded films: Maniram Dewan (1963), Dr. Bezbarua (1969 in our database) and Ratanlal. She was born in Sripuria, Tinsukia, into the Borbora family, and was a sister of Golap Borbora, who became Chief Minister of Assam.
She began on stage at 18 in the play Joymoti (1952), and her turning point came with Rajpath (1961), which led her to cinema. Her husband, the actor, writer and director Samaren Saikia, worked with her in many plays. In Maniram Dewan, the song Buku Hum Hum Kare, sung by Bhupen Hazarika, was picturised on her. Her performance in Dr. Bezbarua earned her the nickname of the "Lalita Pawar" of Assamese cinema.
She died on 17 November 2011 at her home in Tinsukia.

অঠৰ বছৰ বয়সত ১৯৫২ চনত জয়মতী নাটকেৰে তেওঁ অভিনয় জীৱন আৰম্ভ কৰে। ১৯৬১ চনৰ ৰাজপথ নাটক তেওঁৰ জীৱনৰ মোড় সলনি কৰা কাম, যাৰ পৰা চলচ্চিত্ৰলৈ তেওঁৰ বাট মুকলি হয়। স্বামী অভিনেতা, লেখক আৰু পৰিচালক সমৰেণ শইকীয়াৰ সৈতে তেওঁ বহুকেইখন নাটকত কাম কৰিছিল। মণিৰাম দেৱানত ভূপেন হাজৰিকাই গোৱা বুকু হম হম কৰে গীতটো তেওঁৰ ওপৰত চিত্ৰায়ণ কৰা হৈছিল। ডক্তৰ বেজবৰুৱাত কৰা অভিনয়ৰ বাবে তেওঁক অসমীয়া চলচ্চিত্ৰৰ ললিতা পাৱাৰ বুলি কোৱা হৈছিল।
২০১১ চনৰ ১৭ নৱেম্বৰত তিনিচুকীয়াৰ নিজা ঘৰতে তেওঁৰ মৃত্যু হয়।
