Kadamtole Krishna Nache

Radhika Mohan Adhikari is a scholar of Vaishnava culture. His son Joykrishna, well educated and focused on his career, leaves home without much regard for his father's ideals. Years later Joykrishna's son Shyamkanu, also well educated, feels a close bond with his grandfather's cultural tradition. He arrives in the ancestral village hoping to bring the family together, and asks his aunt Swarna and his cousin Basanta to keep his identity secret so that he can reach his private goal.

To portray the casteless society that Srimanta Sankardeva founded, the film shows Manimala, granddaughter of Radhika Mohan's servant Govinda, and Swarna's son Basanta drawing close to each other. In the end Radhika Mohan realises that anger and an unforgiving heart both run against the ideals of Sankardeva.

Suman Haripriya wrote and directed the film, which was shot on 35 mm. Ranjit Chakraborty produced it and Prabhat Sarma composed the music. Saurabh Hazarika, Tapan Das, Jayanta Bhagawati, Ranu Devi and Rupshikha are among the cast.

The film won the Rajat Kamal for Best Assamese Film at the 53rd National Film Awards, recognised for bringing alive Assam's rich cultural tradition. Producer Ranjit Chakraborty and director Suman Haripriya each received 20,000 rupees. It was also selected for the Diaspora Film Festival in New York.
